Only a complicated password is not enough to secure your Google account, especially at today’s time. Today Google will hold most of everyone’s information. Though, Google provides some advanced security features that you can use to protect your account from hackers, unauthorized access, and some other malpractices.
Step 1: Start with Security Check
1.    Access ‘Security Check-up’.
2.    Add or Update a recovery phone number and email address: It is a powerful security feature. This will secure your account from suspicious activities like login without your permission and also alert you if anyone does. This will also help in to recover your account when locked.
3.    Enable 2-step verification: This will protect your account from hackers and others even if they got your password.
4.    Remove apps accessing your account: If there is any unnecessary or unknown app having your account access consider removing it.
5.    Use Screen Lock: Enable a password-protected screen lock on your device. This will prevent your device from being used without your authorization.
Step 2: Use a powerful and unique password.
 Using the same password or similar password on multiple accounts and sites could be risky. If someone got or stole the password of your one account or site. It can be used to access your other accounts.
•    Use a trusted password manager to create a powerful and unique password.
•    Enable ‘Password Alert’ on Chrome: This will notify you when you mistakenly entered your Google account’s password into a non-Google site. So that you can take action before it gets stolen.
Step 3: Keep your device updated.
If you’re using outdated software, browsers, or operating system, it could be unsafe. So, to secure your account and data keep the things of your device always updated.
•    Update Browser: Make sure that the browser you’re using is upgraded to the latest version. If it is not updated then upgrade it.
•    Update OS of your device: Make sure that your machine is running on the earliest version or operating system.
•    Turn on Google Play Protect and update apps on your phone: The apps on your phone or other devices should be up to date. Enable Google Play Protect to prevent your device from unsafe apps.
Step 4: Uninstall the unknown and unnecessary app s& browsers extensions.
Always avoid installing unknown things, either apps, extensions or any other type of files. Only install authorized programs, to keep your device and data safe. If you had installed any unknown app from an anonymous source or extensions on your browser, it could be risky for your sensitive information. Remove the strange and unnecessary app & browsers extensions to keep your information secure. That’s it!
